Keep an eye out for your friendly CR&R auditors. They are working alongside the City of Canyon Lake to conduct sample route audits in the community to comply with SB 1383 regulations. Please do not be alarmed if you see auditors looking through your trash, recycling, and organic bins on your service day. These trained auditors are looking for possible bin contamination to reduce contamination and improve your recycling program.
What is SB 1383?
Senate Bill 1383 (SB 1383) went into effect on January 1, 2022. SB 1383 establishes methane emissions reduction targets statewide to mitigate climate change. Methane gas is created in landfills when organic waste (food/green waste) naturally decomposes. All local jurisdictions must implement SB 1383 regulations to reduce methane emissions at local landfills and provide recycling and organics services to all residents and businesses.
