The Canyon Lake Lodge was constructed in the year 2000, 23 years ago. Many of the finishes inside this building are original and very worn and dated. The bar area was last updated in 2014, over nine years ago. We hired an excellent design team to coordinate two major projects to update this facility after two decades of hard use.

The Canyon Lake Lodge was constructed in the year 2000, 23 years ago. Many of the finishes inside this building are original and very worn and dated. The bar area was last updated in 2014, over 9 years ago. We hired an excellent design team to coordinate this repair and replacement project and give our restaurant and bar a much needed update after two decades of hard use.
All the funds from this project will come from the Repair & Replacement Reserve fund. The reserve study, which can be found on the Financials page, lists every inventory component in the Lodge, such as paint, flooring, carpeting, the bar and bar equipment, furniture, light fixtures, etc., as individual items that need replacing with a specific life expectancy. Nearly all the items in this project have long ago exceeded their life expectancy.
The Davis Stirling act, which governs all HOAs, requires that we maintain a reserve study and healthy reserve funds. Our boards have done a great job of this over the recent years, and the money for this project is already in the bank. The Davis Stirling act also requires us to maintain all of our common area amenities. We consider this one of our primary obligations. All of this helps maintain healthy property values here in Canyon Lake and helps modernize our aging 55 year old community.

The Canyon Lake Lodge was constructed in the year 2000, 23 years ago. We have many community events such as Fiesta Day, the tree lighting, car show, etc., on the front lawn. Currently the great view of the lake there is almost totally obscured by hedges and trees.
This area is also a revenue center for us, and we host weddings and events on the lawn, and the outdoor dining we did there during the Covid-19 closures was incredibly popular. The Board will be voting today on a major renovation of the interior of the Lighthouse Restaurant and Bar. The design of that project, in particular the bar area and service bar, were designed specifically to be able to serve a much larger front patio dining area. The project will start by removing trees and hedges.
Then we will build some retaining walls on the slope between the lawn and Sunset Beach. This will allow us to enlarge the front lawn area a great deal and maximize the view of the lake. The design includes lounge seating, gas firepits, a very large overhead shade structure — not unlike the new one at the country club — all new landscaping and lighting, and a new bandstand/wedding area with a large overhead trellis.

February 9, 2024
The Lodge Renovation Project concluded with the impressive renovation of the Lighthouse Restaurant. Led by a professional design team, the renovation modernized the interior with local art and photography, a contemporary color palette, new furnishings, and a welcoming waiting area. The $2.9 million project was funded through Repair & Replacement Reserve and Capital Improvement funds, aimed at enhancing property value and modernizing common area amenities. Last weekend, the Lighthouse Restaurant hosted a soft opening with notable guests, including Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco and wife Denise.

The Sunset Lounge & Terrace are now open. We have received our final inspections and look forward to a grand re-opening on February 2! We can’t wait for you to see the NEW Lodge! -

The Sunset Lounge & Terrace and Lighthouse Restaurant renovations are nearly complete. Crews are working on final details and finishes in both areas. We should be receiving our final inspections next week.

Exciting progress is unfolding inside the Lighthouse Restaurant! The fresh new look is in sync with the recently renovated bar and new outdoor terrace. This week we received some of the new furniture for the terrace area and the dining room, and we expect another delivery the first week in January for the lounge area. While work continues inside, the restaurant and lounge area remains closed; however, dinner is being served on the new terrace and in the bar.

Exciting progress is unfolding inside the Lighthouse Restaurant! The fresh new look is in sync with the recently renovated bar and new outdoor terrace. While work continues inside, the restaurant remains closed; however, dinner is being served on the new terrace and in the bar.
Simultaneously, the 3rd and final phase is underway, focusing on the lounge/dance floor area. Expect all-new finishes, lounge furniture, and a stunning fireplace in this space. We appreciate your patience and enthusiasm during this thrilling renovation journey! -

We are in the homestretch of phase 1 at the Lodge. Crews are wrapping up tile work on the new large outdoor dining patio, and indoors, the bar is nearing completion. We can’t wait for everyone to see the finished product in person, very soon!
Once this phase is complete, we will close the Lighthouse Restaurant for its renovation, followed by the lounge area. All the badly damaged 23-year-old flooring in the long hallway near the Holiday Bay Room will also be replaced. We expect all these areas to be open later this year, with entirely new furniture and a great new vibe! -

This week, crews continued working on the expansive tile work on the large dining patio at the Lodge. Indoors, the tile flooring and carpet are now complete. We're in the final stretch on the bar and we can’t wait for everyone to see the finished product in person, very soon!
The renovations will not affect concerts or events in the Holiday Bay Room. We will soon close the Lighthouse restaurant for it’s renovation, followed by the lounge area. All of the badly damaged 23-year-old flooring in the long hallway near the Holiday Bay Room will also be replaced. We expect all of these areas to be open later this year, with entirely new furniture and a great new vibe! -
August 18, 2023
This week, crews started the expansive tile work on the large dining patio at the Lodge. Indoors, the tile flooring and carpet are now complete, and the draft beer equipment will be installed next week. The bar will feature 12 beers on tap, and the outdoor service bar will have 10 beers on tap. We can’t wait for everyone to see the finished product in person, very soon!
The renovations will not affect concerts or events in the Holiday Bay Room. We will soon close the Lighthouse restaurant for it’s renovation, followed by the lounge area. All of the badly damaged 23-year-old flooring in the long hallway near the Holiday Bay Room will also be replaced. August 11, 2023
This week, crews continued working on the firepit, fountain, and planter. Indoors, the granite countertops in the bar are now installed, and the floor tiling is nearly complete. Bar equipment is installed and hooked up. We are still in the first phase, focusing on the exterior patio and bar area. Phase 2 is the restaurant area, and Phase 3 is the lounge/dance floor. Dividing the project into these three phases allows the least disruption to the restaurant and bar functions so that the restaurant may remain open during construction. The renovation will not affect concerts and events in the Holiday Bay Room. We intend to keep the restaurant and bar open as much as possible throughout the construction. -
August 4, 2023
This week, crews formed the firepit, fountain, and planter concrete caps on the patio. Next week, those concrete caps will be poured and patio tiling will start. Indoors, the granite countertops in the bar are now installed, and the floor tiling is approximately 80% complete. Bar equipment is installed and being hooked up. We are still part in first phase that focuses on the exterior patio and bar area. Phase 2 is the restaurant area, and Phase 3 is the lounge/dance floor. Dividing the project into these three phases allows the least disruption to the restaurant and bar functions so that the restaurant may remain open during construction. The renovation will not affect concerts and events in the Holiday Bay Room. We intend to keep the restaurant and bar open as much as possible throughout the construction.

This week, crews poured concrete for the new outdoor patio and work also continued on the interior bar finishes. We are still part in first phase that focuses on the exterior patio and bar area. Phase 2 is the restaurant area, and Phase 3 is the lounge/dance floor. Dividing the project into these three phases allows the least disruption to the restaurant and bar functions so that the restaurant may remain open during construction. The renovation will not affect concerts and events in the Holiday Bay Room. We intend to keep the restaurant and bar open as much as possible throughout the construction. -

This week, crews graded and placed rebar to prepare for pouring concrete next week in the new outdoor patio. Work also continued on the interior bar finishes. We are still part in first phase that focuses on the exterior patio and bar area. Phase 2 is the restaurant area, and Phase 3 is the lounge/dance floor. Dividing the project into these three phases allows the least disruption to the restaurant and bar functions so that the restaurant may remain open during construction. The renovation will not affect concerts and events in the Holiday Bay Room. We intend to keep the restaurant and bar open as much as possible throughout the construction. -

This week, work continued on the stage/bandstand with the trellis, planters and firepits being installed. Footings for the large shade structure were also poured this week. In the bar, doors, windows, and interior trim were installed. This is all still part of the first phase that focuses on the exterior patio and bar area. Phase 2 is the restaurant area, and Phase 3 is the lounge/dance floor. Dividing the project into these three phases allows the least disruption to the restaurant and bar functions so that the restaurant may remain open during construction. We are excited to share a conceptual rendering of the Canyon Lake Lodge patio! We are currently in the first phase of this project, which focuses on the exterior patio and bar area. Once complete, this space will boast a wedding arch and bandstand, beautiful landscaping, high-end lounge and dining furniture, lots of overhead shade, a new outdoor bar service window with ten beers on tap, overhead heaters and string lighting, propane firepits, and the best view in Canyon Lake!

We’re excited to start Phase One of our renovation project at the 23-year-old Lodge! Our contractor is on the job today and starting a very aggressive schedule on the exterior Patio and Event Space project. This outside area is currently planned for completion by May. This ambitious schedule is very dependent on the weather. Work on the bar area will start after the Frankie Ballard Concert this weekend. A temporary bar will be set up on the lounge/dance floor area while the bar area is under construction. Phase Two will be the restaurant area, and Phase Three will be the lounge/dance floor. Three phases will allow the least disruption to the restaurant and bar continuing to function throughout the construction process. These projects have been in planning for nearly 5 years. They only became a reality on January 3rd, when the board approved the funding at their last meeting. Management immediately went to work value engineering (reviewing and cutting costs) and negotiating best and final pricing with 8 different bidders, and the project has now started 36 days later. The building permits currently have expiration dates in August and September 2023.
