Introducing Electronic Voting

In October 2024, Governor Newsom signed AB 2159, making it possible for California HOAs and POAs to vote electronically for the first time ever. This exciting change is expected to make it easier for members to vote, for associations to reach quorum, and could help reduce election costs over time.

What This Means for You:

• All homeowners are automatically opted in for electronic voting.
• Prefer paper ballots? No problem! You can opt-out and continue voting by mail.

Key Dates:

• Feb. 4, 2025: Join the Open Session Board Meeting to ask our Inspector of Elections questions about electronic voting.
• Feb. 14, 2025: Deadline to opt out of electronic voting and request a paper ballot.

What is it Like Serving on the Board of Directors?

Election season is here at the Canyon Lake POA. As the season kicks into high gear, many ask what it is like to serve on the Board and how much of a commitment is required. In working with current and past Board Directors, we have found that an average Board Director spends approximately 728 hours a year dedicated to Canyon Lake POA business — roughly 2 hours a day! Responsibilities range from Board, committee, and executive meetings to townhalls and the Board book review (which can be upwards of 400 pages each month). The Board of Directors is composed entirely of community volunteers working hard to serve our community and all members' interests. Next time you see a Board Director, please thank them for their service!

This year, there are 3 vacancies on the Board. Interested in running for the Board? Pick up an Intent to Run packet from the Canyon Lake POA office or request one by emailing your name and tract-lot to
[email protected] .
