October Member of the Month

October's Member of the Month is Ilyssa DeCasperis. Since moving to Canyon Lake in 2017 from New York, she made numerous contributions to the community. She was one of the founding organizers of the 9/11 Tribute services in Canyon Lake, and she not only suggested a rewards program for e-bike safety launched this year but also donated to it. In 2022, she was named as one of six Women of Impact by the American Heart Association, for whom she raised $25,000 without corporate sponsors. Additionally, Ilyssa joined the Appeals Committee and the Canyon Lake Car Club. Her desire for anonymity when donating funds to various causes and organizations is a testament to her selflessness. Unfortunately, Ilyssa passed away on September 20 of this year. Her husband, Chris, and her son, Joseph, accepted the award on her behalf, as pictured above.

Harmony McNaughton Given Award of Recognition

Harmony McNaughton, Director of Corporate Administration, was given an Award of Recognition at the October 1 Regular Session Board Meeting for her contributions to the Canyon Lake POA and to the Canyon Lake community. Harmony came to work at the Canyon Lake POA in 2007 at the Pool, quickly working her way up to becoming an integral part of the Corporate office. For seven years, she served as Clerk of the Board. As a unique repository of Canyon Lake history, she has been instrumental in edifying the general manager and all the boards that have served during her tenure about Canyon Lake. Her achievements not only include assisting in the sale of the Fire Station property to the City of Canyon Lake but also receiving the CACM Innovator Award in 2024, a prestigious recognition for her work at the Canyon Lake POA. After over 17 years here, Harmony announced her resignation to pursue a new opportunity. The Canyon Lake POA and its staff express their heartfelt gratitude for her years of service and wish her the best in her future endeavors as she embarks on the next chapter of her career.

Parking Lot Seal Coating Project

The parking lots at the Canyon Lake Lodge, the Canyon Lake Country Club Bar & Grill, Eastport Park, Diamond Point Park, and Vacation Park will be seal-coated from Monday, October 21, to Friday, October 25. These parking lots were re-asphalted in 2019. Seal coating protects and extends the life of asphalt pavements by applying a protective sealant that helps to prevent oxidation, weather damage, and wear from traffic.

 Main Gate Repavement Project

Please be advised of lane closures at the Main Gate entrance from Monday, October 21, to Friday, October 25, for repavement. At least one incoming and one outgoing lane will be open during this time. To avoid delays, please use the North or East gates. Golden Gate Drive will need to be accessed via Continental Drive during this time. Access to the Senior Center will remain mostly accessible to vehicle traffic aside from brief periods of interruption. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

Golf Course & Country Club Closed for Overseeding

From October 14 to November 3, our Golf Course and Pro Shop will be closed for our annual overseeding. From October 21 to October 30, the Canyon Lake Country Club Bar & Grill will also be closed for annual maintenance.

Overseeding is the process of planting new grass seeds directly over the existing turf. This process is necessary to help keep the fairways green year-round. In the fall and winter months, we overseed the golf course with perennial ryegrass, which is more favorable to the cooler weather we receive during these months. In the warmer months, the golf course has Bermuda grass, which tolerates the heat well.
