Happy New Year Canyon Lake! 

As we look forward to the new year 2024, we are grateful for all of the progress and improvements made this past year and for the support of our members. We are especially thankful for the dedication of our Board of Directors, led by President Bill Van Vleet, as well as the hardworking committees, supportive clubs, and committed employees who have contributed to making our community even better. We hope that everyone has a wonderful New Year!

Canyon Lake POA Office (including Member Services) Holiday Hours
 The offices will also be closed on Monday, January 1 in observance of New Year's Day. Normal hours will resume on Tuesday, January 2.

Lodge | Sunset Lounge & Terrace
On Sunday, December 31, the Sunset Lounge & Terrace will be open from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Please note that the New Year's Eve event happening inside the Lodge Holiday Bay Room from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. is ticketed. On Monday, January 1, the Lodge and Sunset Lounge & Terrace will be closed in observance of New Year's Day. Normal hours resume Wednesday, January 3.

Country Club Bar & Grill
On Sunday, December 31 and Monday, January 1, the Country Club Bar & Grill will be open during regular business hours from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Canyon Lake Golf Course
On Sunday, December 31 and Monday, January 1, the course will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Normal hours resume Tuesday, January 2.

New Year's Eve Dinner Service at the Country Club Bar & Grill

Swing by the Country Club Bar & Grill on Sunday, December 31 for a New Year's Eve dinner service! Feast on a specially created surf 'n' turf special and quench your thirst with New Year's Eve drink specials to end 2023 on a high, sumptuous note.

Please note that the Country Club Bar & Grill will close at regular hours (8 p.m.). Make dinner reservations online or by calling 951.246.1773.

Introduction Class to Pickleball

Are you interested in playing pickleball? The Canyon Lake Pickleball Club is sponsoring an introductory class for beginners that will teach the basics and fundamentals of pickleball on Sunday, January 7 at 1 p.m. The club will provide paddles and balls. Please wear comfortable clothes, non-black tennis shoes, and bring your own water. For more information, email Steve Libring at [email protected].

Regular Session Board Meeting

Join us at our next Regular Session Board Meeting on Tuesday, January 2, at 6 p.m. at the Canyon Lake Lodge. Members are invited to attend in person at the Lodge or join/watch online at vm.clpoa.net. The meeting will also broadcast live on our Facebook page @CanyonLakePOA

COMMUNITY UPDATES
Service Provider Access on December 31
  Please note, service provider access is limited on specific holidays and events. Service providers will not be able to access the community on Sunday, December 31 (New Year's Eve). Service providers include contractors, delivery drivers (DoorDash, GrubHub, pizza, etc.), furniture deliveries, house cleaning services, HVAC services, landscapers/pool services, plumbing services, and rideshare apps (Uber/Lyft). Note that healthcare providers are permitted. Should members need a service provider to have access on any of these days, they can add them as a temporary guest for the day.

Holiday Decor Reminder

The holidays are right around the corner, and we know that Canyon Lake is ready to embrace the holiday season with open arms! As a friendly reminder, those who are decorating their property with Christmas and New Year's decorations must take decorations down within 15 days after the holiday.

Electric Bicycle Registration

The Canyon Lake POA Board recently approved several new electric bicycle rules at the October Regular Session Board Meeting. Notably, all electric bicycles must now register with the Canyon Lake POA. The Canyon Lake POA is now taking electric bicycle registrations at the Member Services office. There will be a registration event on Saturday, January 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Canyon Lake POA office. Only authorized members may register electric bicycles and riders. However, to ensure safety and rule compliance, all riders must successfully complete an online exam available at www.clpoa.com/ebike. Tags are issued to authorized members and must be visibly displayed on the rear of the bicycle. The bicycle does not have to be present at registration.

PROJECT UPDATES

Year 2 Pavement Project Starts Jan 2

Phase 1 of of our Year 2 Pavement Improvement Project is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, January 2. The streets in Phase 1 are Pyramid Point Drive, Burning Tree Drive, and Old Wrangler Road. 

Please be advised that construction equipment set up may begin 3 to 5 days before the phase begins and parking may be limited. Temporary street closed/no parking signs will be posted in the work area 48 hours prior to work commencing.

General working hours will be Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

Streets being reconstructed will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Vehicles should be parked in zones outside the area scheduled for reconstruction from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will not be vehicular access to/from your residence during this period. Please do not drive through the construction area while the street is closed, as it is unsafe, and you may cause damage to your vehicle or the street surface. Any vehicle(s) parked in the street on designated asphalt reconstruction days between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. will be towed without further notice at the vehicle owner's expense.

Lodge Project

Exciting progress is unfolding inside the Lighthouse Restaurant! The fresh new look is in sync with the recently renovated bar and new outdoor terrace. Last week, we received some of the new furniture for the terrace area and the dining room, and we expect another delivery the first week in January for the lounge area. While work continues inside, the restaurant and lounge area remains closed; however, dinner is being served on the new terrace and in the bar.

Tennis Area Shade Project

The Board approved funding for the Tennis Area Shade Project during their December 5 Regular Session Board Meeting. This project is aimed at refurbishing the picnic area adjacent to the tennis courts. The proposed enhancements encompass the installation of retaining walls, an ADA ramp, a built-in BBQ, trash receptacles, and benches. Upon completion, this enhanced space will create an inviting and upgraded environment for our tennis enthusiasts to enjoy. Work on this project will begin in the first quarter of 2024.

ePasses for Guests

Through dwellingLIVE members can have an ePass sent directly to their visitors via email or text message so they can either print their pass ahead of time or the gate guard can scan their pass on their smartphone. Visitors can either hold up their smartphone or printed pass for the guard to scan. Gate guards will issue printed parking passes to eligible visitors who haven't yet printed the ePass out. ePasses are the easiest way for your visitors to access the community in an expeditious manner.

RSO vs Community Patrol

Canyon Lake is a unique community that has both patrol services (provided by the Canyon Lake POA) and police services (provided by Riverside County Sheriff). In times of safety or security issues, it's crucial to know which authority to contact. The Riverside County Sheriff addresses a range of concerns, including burglary, fraud, lost property, theft, trespassing, vandalism, animal cruelty, and sexual abuse. Whereas the Canyon Lake POA's Community Patrol addresses concerns related to barking dogs, curfew, loitering/solicitation, noise complaints, and vandalism to Canyon Lake POA common areas. Additionally, Marine Patrol provides boat distress assistance, boat inspections, and lake speed enforcement. 

 Remember always to call or text 9-1-1 if there is a threat to life, imminent violence, or a crime in progress.

Lake Emergency Markers

Have you ever noticed the large letter signs that can be seen on the lake at several of the beaches and parks around the community? These letter signs are actually Emergency Locations Markers (ELMs) with latitude and longitude coordinates attached to them. The letters go from A to O. Residents who have an emergency on the lake can refer to the letter when they call 9-1-1. The Canyon Lake Fire Department references these letters so they can determine your location and provide assistance quicker. We recommend that all boaters have a copy of the Emergency Location Markers Map, which includes the physical address of each letter in the event that dispatch requests the address.

Canyon Lake Camera Program

The Security Advisory Committee, Riverside County Sheriff's Department, and City of Canyon Lake have collaborated to create the Canyon Lake Camera Program. This is an opportunity that allows community residents with surveillance systems to voluntarily add themselves to a list that the Riverside County Sheriff's Department and Canyon Lake POA may refer to if a criminal incident occurred nearby. By signing up for this program, when these criminal incidents occur, the Canyon Lake POA and/or law enforcement may contact you to help solve the crime by requesting to review the video footage your system may have captured.

This program is for Canyon Lake POA members, and members must log in to the website to sign up. Alternatively, email [email protected] to sign up. If emailing, please include your name, address, and tract-lot number.

Event Planning Toolkit

The Canyon Lake POA fosters and promotes celebrations throughout the community. However, as with any organization, we must ensure events held at our facilities follow ordinances set in place by other authoritative agencies, such as the City of Canyon Lake, Riverside County Health Department, and Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), to name a few. Active Fitness Class

This class is on hiatus break until January 4, 2024.

Calling all fitness enthusiasts! Senior Fitness is now Active Fitness, a fitness class for adults of all ages. Improve your strength, mobility, mood, and circulation with a low-impact, high-energy workout! The class is every Tuesday and Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Lodge. The class is 45 minutes. Six classes can be purchased for $36, or seven classes can be purchased for $40. Want to give a try before signing up? Try out your first class for free!

Line Dancing Classes

This class is on hiatus break until January 9, 2024.

Join the excitement of our popular line dancing class led by Canyon Lake resident Diana Gallagher. With two class levels for beginners and improvers, you can find the perfect fit for your skill level. Purchase a punch card with five classes for just $20, or upgrade to 11 classes for only $40. Want to try before you commit? Attend a trial class for free! Tuesday classes are from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., starting with a Basic Introduction from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., followed by Beginners from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. On Wednesdays is the Improvers class from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. All classes are held at the Canyon Lake Lodge. Dance Cardio
- Get Fit With Sticks - 

  This class is on hiatus break until January 4, 2024.

Join fitness instructor Amanda Wagoner on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9 a.m. at the Lodge for a high-energy workout that includes easy-to-follow dance moves and dance sticks! Burn calories, have a blast, and groove to upbeat music. Classes are $36 for a six-class punch card or $40 for a seven-class punch card and can be purchased at the Canyon Lake POA office. Don't miss out on this fun and exciting fitness experience!

Restorative Hatha Yoga

Indulge in the blissful practice of Restorative Hatha Yoga, a mindful class that allows you to slow down, relax, and deeply connect with your body. Join instructor Serena Estes on Thursdays at 7 p.m. at the Lodge for an experience that nurtures your body and mind. With a convenient six-class punch card priced at just $36, or a seven-class punch card priced for $40, you can easily make this practice a regular part of your wellness routine. When building a house or making any repairs, alterations, or additions to the exterior of your home or property, you must submit your plans to the Canyon Lake POA for the Architectural Control Committee (ACC) to review for approval at their weekly ACC Meeting. The property improvements posted will be reviewed at the ACC Committee Meeting on Thursday, January 4, 2024.
