The magical journey begins at Moonstone Beach at 9 a.m., open to all Canyon Lake women, who are encouraged to wear witch costumes or hats. No registration is needed, and while there's no participation fee, we invite you to contribute to a breast cancer awareness organization of your choice.

Howl-O-Ween Dog Costume Contest

Get ready for a howlin' good time with the Canyon Lake K9 Club! Bring your furry friends out to strut their stuff at the 5th Annual Howl-O-Ween Dog Costume Contest on Tuesday, October 31, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Eastport Park Dog Park. There will be some paws-itively awesome prizes and ribbons for the Most Original, Scariest, and Cutest costumes. There are separate zones for both big and little furballs to show off their spooky style. Best part? It's a free event for all our fabulous Canyon Lake residents, and there's no need to pre-register. Let's fetch some fun this Halloween!

Halloween Reminders

Let's ensure that this Halloween is not only filled with fun and festivities but also with a strong commitment to safety and consideration for all.

Trick-or-Treating Reminders

To have a safe Halloween night, it's important to avoid costumes that hinder your vision or increase the risk of tripping. Plan a designated route and set a return time. Always go trick-or-treating with at least two friends for the entire evening, and carry a flashlight to be visible to drivers and to spot potential hazards and others on the street. Before crossing, check all directions, adhere to traffic signals, and walk. Never run across streets. Avoid accepting rides from strangers or taking shortcuts through backyards, alleys, or parks. Refrain from entering anyone's home and stay on the porch or front door area at all times.

Motorist Reminders

Motorists should use caution when driving on Halloween as there will be many children on the roads after dusk trick-or-treating. Motorists are advised to drive at a slower pace and take extra caution when backing out of driveways or making turns. Additionally, be mindful of the presence of bikes, e-bikes, scooters, and skateboards on the roads.

Pool Halloween Hours

Halloween is right around the corner! Please remember that the pool closes early at 5 p.m. on Halloween day, October 31. Also starting November 1, the pool hours will change. Lap and Exercise Swim will be daily from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Open Swim will be daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information about the pool, visit www.clpoa.com/pool.

Halloween Access Reminders

As Halloween draws near, we want to share some important information about community access during this festive season. First, if you are inviting guests into the community, please utilize our e-pass service, which emails your guests their pass and expedites their entry into the community. Also, please note that service providers are not permitted into the community on Halloween, October 31. Examples of service providers include contractors, delivery drivers (like DoorDash or pizza delivery), furniture deliveries, HVAC services, home cleaning services, landscapers/pool services, plumbing services, and ride-share apps (like Uber or Lyft). Please note that this does not apply to in-home healthcare services. If you have a service provider needing access to the community, please add them as a temporary guest for the day.

PROJECT UPDATES

Pickleball Ribbon Cutting

Mark your calendars for November 16 at 5 p.m. and join us for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the opening of the two new pickleball courts at Eastport Park. These additional lakeside courts will significantly enhance the playing experience for Canyon Lake residents, providing more opportunities to enjoy this popular sport. After the ribbon cutting, stick around for the Pickleball Club's monthly social meetup.

"Year 2" Pavement
Improvement Project

The "Year 2" Pavement Improvement Project is planned to begin in January 2024. Most of this project will take place on the Longhorn side of the community. Residents will be notified at least one week in advance that their street will be affected. General working hours will be Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Streets being reconstructed will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Vehicles should be parked in zones outside the area scheduled for reconstruction from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Lodge Project

The Sunset Lounge & Terrace is 99% complete, with lawn and firepits finished this week and furniture scheduled to arrive later in November. Indoors, the dining room is now closed for phase 2 of the Lodge renovation. Dinner is being served on the new terrace during this time. Once complete, the dining room will have a fresh look that compliments the newly renovated bar. When the restaurant portion is complete, the final and 3rd phase will be the dance floor area — with all new finishes, new lounge furniture, and a fireplace. Thank you for your patience during this exciting renovation.

Did You Know?

The Davis Stirling Act, which governs all homeowner associations, requires that the Canyon Lake POA maintain a reserve study and healthy reserve funds. The Canyon Lake POA's boards have done a great job of this in recent years, and the money for many of these projects is already in the bank. The Davis Stirling Act also requires the Canyon Lake POA to maintain all of the common area amenities. This is one of the Canyon Lake POA's primary obligations. All of this helps maintain healthy property values here in Canyon Lake and helps modernize our 55-year-old community.

Canyon Lake Camera Program

The Security Advisory Committee, Riverside County Sheriff's Department, and City of Canyon Lake have collaborated to create the Canyon Lake Camera Program. This is an opportunity that allows community residents with surveillance systems to voluntarily add themselves to a list that Riverside County Sheriff's Department and Canyon Lake POA may refer to if a criminal incident occurred nearby. By signing up for this program, when these criminal incidents occur, the Canyon Lake POA and/or law enforcement may contact you to help solve the crime by requesting to review the video footage your system may have captured.

This program is for Canyon Lake POA members, and members must log in to the website to sign up. Alternatively, email [email protected] to sign up. If emailing, please include your name, address, and tract-lot number.

Lake Emergency Markers

Have you ever noticed the large letter signs that can be seen on the lake at several of the beaches and parks around the community? These letter signs are actually Emergency Locations Markers (ELMs) with latitude and longitude coordinates attached to them. The letters go from A to O. Residents who have an emergency on the lake can refer to the letter when they call 9-1-1. The Canyon Lake Fire Department references these letters so they can determine your location and provide assistance quicker. We recommend that all boaters have a copy of the Emergency Location Markers Map, which includes the physical address of each letter in the event that dispatch requests the address.
