Canyon Lake City Golf Championship Tournament

Don't miss the ninth annual Canyon Lake City Golf Championship Tournament on Saturday, September 30, and Sunday, October 1, 2023, at the Canyon Lake Golf & Country Club. Tee times are from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on both days.

This two-day event that is open to the public and Canyon Lake residents, includes two days of golf, cart fees, prize money, and a tournament lunch on Saturday, September 30. The entry fee is $195 for non-annual golf members and $90 for annual golf members. The registration deadline is September 16, 2023. The tournament winner will receive a prize along with their name engraved on the City of Canyon Lake Golf Championship Tournament trophy that is on display at the Canyon Lake Golf & Country Club. The tournament format is a stroke play event. The players will be flighted by handicap and then will play a gross score tournament.

The Canyon Lake POA and the City of Canyon Lake are sponsoring this event. The event is also supported by the Canyon Lake Men's Golf Club, Canyon Lake Family Golf Club, and Canyon Lake Women's Golf Club.

One of the event coordinators, Joe Kamashian says, "This is a great opportunity to play two rounds of golf at Canyon Lake's beautiful golf course and compete for the Canyon Lake City Golf Championship for only $195, with prize money and lunch included."

Movie in the Park Tonight!

Kids Fishing Derby

Join  theBassmasters Club for their 37th Annual Kids Fishing Derby on Saturday, September 16. This is a free event for kids ages 5 to 15; however children must be registered before the event. Kids are allowed to fish anywhere on the lake from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. No more than three fish per species (bluegill, crappie, catfish, and carp) may be weighed in. Bass is excluded. Participants who catch bass should release them back into the lake. Weigh-in is from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Holiday Harbor Park, and there will be complimentary hotdogs and drinks at 12 p.m., followed by awards at 1 p.m.

9er's Scholarship Tournament

Join the Canyon Lake 9er's for their annual Super Star Students Scholarship Golf Tournament on Saturday, September 16. Experience 18 holes of fun, Par 3/4 Golf. The Canyon Lake 9er's annually awards scholarships to deserving young students in Canyon Lake to use toward their college education, with over $50,000 awarded since 2017. All players are welcome! The tournament fee for annual golf members is $60; for non-members it is $90. Sign-ups are available online or in the Golf Pro Shop.

Harbor Fest 2023 

Get ready for the biggest and best Harbor Fest yet from the Canyon Lake Guild! Enjoy a day of fun starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 23 at Holiday Harbor Park. There will be music, food, and family fun featuring free concerts at the amphitheater showcasing VOYAGE: A Journey Tribute Band and Audio Blast. There will also be a Kidz Korner, a variety of 15 vendors, and an enticing array of food options including CLAMS, Bruno's BBQ, Los Amigos, Tiki Treats, and Enzo's Kettle Corn. Classic is coming to Canyon Lake as the 17th annual Car Show roars into town on Saturday, October 7. There will be hundreds of pre-1998 classic and custom vehicles lined up outside the Lodge! Plus, there will be food, vendors, music, and more.

Red Cross Blood Drive

Give back to your community by donating blood. The American Red Cross will be at the Canyon Lake Golf & Country Club in the Magnolia Room on Monday, October 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. hosting a blood drive. PROJECT UPDATES

Lodge Project Update

The dining room at the Lighthouse Restaurant is now closed for phase 2 of the lodge renovation. We will serve dinner in the new “Sunset Lounge & Terrace” during this time. Once complete, the dining room will have a fresh new look that compliments the newly renovated bar. When the restaurant portion is complete, the final and 3rd phase will be the dance floor area – with all new finishes, new lounge furniture, and a fireplace. We are also looking forward to all-new interior and exterior furniture coming next month. Thank you for your patience during this exciting renovation.

Solar Project Update at Golf Course

Work to restore the driving range area under the solar structure at the Golf Course is underway. This week, crews worked on the concrete pad for the driving mats and started the interlocking pavers for the seating area. Up next, crews will be working on seat walls, planters, and landscaping. This Repair & Replacement project was approved at the July Regular Session Board Meeting.

Pickleball Courts Phase 2

Construction continues on the two new pickleball courts at Eastport Park. Concrete has been poured for both the courts and sidewalk. The courts are expected to be completed in the fall. Initially established in 2017, the original four courts quickly became very popular within the community. With the introduction of these two new courts, the facility will be further enhanced, ensuring increased accessibility for all members of our vibrant community.

"Year 2" Pavement
Improvement Project

The "Year 2"  Pavement Improvement Project is planned to begin in October. Most of this project will take place on the Longhorn side of the community. Residents will be notified at least one week in advance that their street will be affected. General working hours will be Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Streets being reconstructed will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Vehicles should be parked in zones outside the area scheduled for reconstruction from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

COMMUNITY UPDATES

Upcoming SoCal Edison Work

Southern California Edision, the electric company that services Canyon Lake, has scheduled work on San Joaquin and Inspiration Point beginning September 18 through September 20. There will be intermittent road closures during this project.

Additionally, a power outage for equpment upgrades has been scheduled for Thursday, September 21 at Happy Camp from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The campground, restrooms, office, propane and gas pumps will be closed during this time. 

Happy Camp Halloween Contest

Welcome to Spooky Season at Happy Camp! Stay at Happy Camp during the month of October and participate in an RV Halloween Decoration Contest!Decorate your RV with Halloween decorations, snap a photo of your spooky camper, and email it to [email protected]. Winners will receive a $50 gift card, while two runner-ups will receive $25 gift cards. Entries may be submitted October 1 through October 22. The online voting contest will take place on the Canyon Lake POA Facebook page between October 23 and October 30, with winners announced on October 31.

School Bus Reminder

School is back in session! As kids return to school, it is important for drivers to remember to stop for school buses and be on the lookout for kids on bikes, skateboards, and other transports commuting to and from school or bus stops. Community Patrol regularly monitors the bus stops throughout the community, and there is a $100 fine for failure to stop at a school bus signal (GR.5.1.n). As always, if you see a driver speeding or driving erratically, please call Community Patrol at 951.246.2721.

Street Parking Reminder

For the benefit of all residents and visitors, we'd like to emphasize the parking regulations in our community. Specificaly, per the Rules & Regulations (GR.5.3), parking is strictly prohibited at any location with curb markings, as well as within a 12-foot radius of a stop sign. This rule is in place to ensure the safety and accessibility of our streets.

We kindly ask for your cooperation in adhering to these rules, as disregarding them may result in a $50 fine. By respecting these parking guidelines, we can all contribute to a safer and more efficient traffic flow in our neighborhood. Your understanding and compliance are greatly appreciated.

Permanent Guest List Update

Due to scheduling constraints, dwellingLIVE has postponed clearing the Canyon Lake POA's permanent guest list to September 19. Beginning September 20, members can add new permanent guests to ensure the list is up-to-date and reflects desired guests in the community. We encourage you to utilize the new permanent guest list feature in your dwellingLIVE app or website account to manage your permanent guest list conveniently. Alternatively, you can visit the Canyon Lake POA Member Services office for assistance. Permanent guests do not have an expiration. However, guest passes are only issued for up to 10 days. 

Additionally, effective October 2, temporary guests may only be added for a duration of three months. 

Service Providers Reminder

Please utilize the 'Srvc Provider' Pass Type when adding any entity or individual that offers temporary services to homeowners in the community. Service Providers do not have access to amenities or facilities and must park near the homeowner’s address they are serving. Service providers are limited to up to 10 days community access and they are not permitted into the community on certain holidays: New Year's Eve, Memorial Day weekend, 4th of July, Labor Day, Halloween, and the Boat Parade weekend. Those calling service providers in on these holidays should add the service providers to their guest list for the day of access. 

Examples of service providers may be DoorDash, contractors, Uber, Lyft, HVAC services, plumbing services, pizza deliveries, furniture deliveries, etc.

ePasses for Guests

Through dwellingLIVE members can have an ePass sent directly to their visitors via email or text message so they can either print their pass ahead of time, or the gate guard can scan their pass on their smartphone. Visitors can either hold up their smartphone or printed pass for the guard to scan. Gate guards will issue printed parking passes to eligible visitors who haven't yet printed the ePass out. ePasses are the easiest way for your visitors to access the community in an expeditious manner.

Canyon Lake Camera Program

The Security Advisory Committee, Riverside County Sheriff's Department, and City of Canyon Lake have collaborated to create the Canyon Lake Camera Program. This is an opportunity that allows community residents with surveillance systems to voluntarily add themselves to a list that Riverside County Sheriff's Department and Canyon Lake POA may refer to if a criminal incident occurred nearby. By signing up for this program, when these criminal incidents occur, the Canyon Lake POA and/or law enforcement may contact you to help solve the crime by requesting to review the video footage your system may have captured.

This program is for Canyon Lake POA members, and members must log in to the website to sign up. Alternatively, email [email protected] to sign up. If emailing, please include your name, address, and tract-lot number.

Lake Emergency Markers

Have you ever noticed the large letter signs that can be seen on the lake at several of the beaches and parks around the community? These letter signs are actually Emergency Locations Markers (ELM's) with latitude and longitude coordinates attached to them. The letters go from A to O. Residents who have an emergency on the lake can refer to the letter when they call 9-1-1. The Canyon Lake Fire Department references these letters so they can determine your location and provide assistance quicker. We recommend that all boaters have a copy of the Emergency Location Markers Map, which includes the physical address of each letter in the event that dispatch requests the address.

Active Fitness Class

Calling all fitness enthusiasts! Senior Fitness is now Active Fitness, a fitness class for adults of all ages. Improve your strength, mobility, mood, and circulation with a low-impact, high-energy workout! The class is every Tuesday and Thursday at 10 a.m. and Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the Lodge. The class is 45 minutes. Six classes can be purchased for $36, or seven classes can be purchased for $40. Want to give a try before signing up? Try out your first class for free!

Join Aqua Fitness

Looking to have an amazing workout while enjoying the pool? Join our invigorating Aqua Fitness classes! We offer a dynamic HIIT Aqua Fitness class at 8 a.m., Monday through Friday. For those new to Aqua Fitness, we also have a beginners class at 9:20 a.m. and for more advanced fitness enthusiats we have a HIIT Aqua Fitness will start at 8:30 a.m.

Classes are $3 each, with the option of purchasing a package of 10 classes for just $20. Alternatively, you can enjoy unlimited classes for only $30 per month. Classes can be conveniently purchased at the Pool office.

Line Dancing Classes

Join the excitement of our popular line dancing class led by Canyon Lake resident Diana Gallagher. With two class levels for beginners and improvers, you can find the perfect fit for your skill level. Purchase a punch card with five classes for just $20, or upgrade to 11 classes for only $40. Want to try before you commit? Attend a trial class for free! Tuesday classes are from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., starting with a Basic Introduction from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., followed by Beginners from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. On Wednesdays is the Improvers class from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. All classes are held at the Canyon Lake Lodge. Looking for fun evening class to stay active? Join fitness instructor Amanda Wagoner on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. at the Lodge for a high-energy workout that includes easy-to-follow dance moves and dance sticks! Burn calories, have a blast, and groove to upbeat music. There are also classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9 a.m. at the Lodge.
