ABOUT CANYON LAKE
Join the over 10,000 residents of the second largest gated community in California who have decided that Canyon Lake is the place to be for an active, fun-filled lifestyle. Located between Lake Elsinore and Sun City in Southern California, the mecca of outdoor fun in the sun, Canyon Lake is a private community of 4,800 properties. The community features a nearly 400 acre lake with 14.9 miles of shoreline used by residents for fishing, waterskiing, wakeboarding and leisure boating.

Aside from the lake, there are also over 15 parks and beaches spread throughout the community that include amenities such as playgrounds, volleyball nets, basketball courts, dedicated swimming areas, horseshoe pits, bbqs and picnic areas. There is also a unique 18 hole Southern California Golf Association rated golf course that winds through the community; and other amenities like Happy Camp Campground, Gault Field ball fields, a Junior Olympic size pool, an equestrian center and tennis courts.

CANYON LAKE HISTORY
Canyon Lake was formed by a dam that was built in 1927. Rain water coming from the San Jacinto mountains and surrounding valleys supplied the lake with rain water until 1955, when an agreement between the Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District and Temscal Water Company brought a more stable supply to the reservoir. A treatment plant was built, and later fish screens were installed over the floodgates so that all the fish would not travel downstream to Lake Elsinore.

In 1968, Corona Land Company began the development of Canyon Lake as a picturesque lakeside community. In December 1990, Canyon Lake became an incorporated city, and all of the areas outside the gates are under the jurisdiction of the city council.

Today the lake is surrounded by beautiful homes, and residents who enjoy the many amenities available in this "little bit of paradise". The Canyon Lake Property Owners Association is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the common areas within Canyon Lake. The purpose of the Association is to promote the recreation and benefit and enjoyment of the homeowners within the community.
